About the role

The platform is built TypeScript end-to-end and ships at serious pace. AI-assisted development is core to how we build, which means the codebase grows fast, and the engineers who read code deeply are the ones who keep it solid. You will be the team's authority on code quality. Today that means deep TypeScript expertise; the mandate itself is bigger than any one language: rigorous review, coherent standards, and the patterns that keep a fast-moving codebase safe, readable and consistent as our stack evolves.

This is a Senior role on our Platform Engineering team, London · Hybrid.

What you'll do

• Own conventions, standards and type safety across the platform, front-end to back-end.
• Lead rigorous code review in an AI-assisted workflow, catching subtle type, async and architectural issues before they merge.
• Set and enforce engineering standards: strict typing, linting, and the patterns that keep a fast-growing codebase coherent.
• Raise the whole team's code fluency through mentoring, pair reviews and internal guidance that turn every review into teaching.
• Refactor and harden critical paths: untangle complex types, improve inference, eliminate unsafe escapes, strengthen module and API boundaries.
• Partner with QA on automated quality gates: typed test utilities, static analysis and CI checks that catch issues before a human has to.
• Contribute hands-on across the stack, services, APIs and front-ends, setting the reference standard for how our code is written.

What we're looking for

• Deep, demonstrable TypeScript expertise, fluent with advanced type-system features and the judgement to know when not to use them.
• Strong full-stack JavaScript/TypeScript foundations, Node.js services and modern React, in large shared codebases.
• A reviewer's mindset: able to read and reason about large volumes of unfamiliar code quickly, spotting issues others miss.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools, clear-eyed about their failure modes and rigorous about verifying their output.
• A clear communicator and natural mentor, able to raise a team's standards through reviews and pairing without slowing delivery.
• Nice to have: breadth beyond TypeScript (Python or Go), CI/CD and containerised deployment exposure, AI and LLM product experience, eligibility for UK SC clearance.
