Job Title: Software Engineer
Location: London, Hamburg
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: Competitive
Equity: Benchmarked
Role Overview:
Build the intelligence layer of MasonOS powering distributed manufacturing.
About Isembard:
Isembard is on a mission to forge industrial acceleration. We enable faster and cheaper products to be made for critical industries by combining advanced machine tools with our proprietary software, MasonOS. We are building a distributed network of high-performance factories across the UK, US and beyond.
Our values:
If not now, when
Follow the five maxims
Humour and humility
What We’re Building (Mason)
The goal? Turn a machine shop into a software-first system, where precision manufacturing is as scalable as cloud deployments.
Mason:
Orchestrates CNC machining,
Manages advanced robotics
Automates complex supply chains,
Ensures rigorous quality standards and more.
AI is not an afterthought - it is baked into the system.
This goes beyond workflow automation— we are undertaking a full-stack reinvention of industrial manufacturing, and we need brilliant, relentless engineers to build it.
Your Role: Learning by Building
As a Graduate Engineer, you won’t be stuck fixing bugs in legacy code. You will be on the factory floor, working alongside the team to ship real software that controls production.
Develop Core Features: You will contribute code to MasonOS, working across the stack from backend services to the user interface.
Bridge Software & Hardware: You’ll see your code turn into physical action. You will write software that interacts with machines, robotics, and sensors.
Iterate at Speed: Manufacturing moves fast. You will learn to deploy code frequently, monitor its performance in the real world, and iterate based on immediate feedback from the factory floor.
Absorb & Grow: You will work directly with a team of experienced engineers and founders, gaining exposure to DevOps, architecture, and machine learning in a high-autonomy environment. We have a flat-hierarchy - this means everyone can contribute ideas, shape direction and attack any problem that needs to be solved.
About You
We don't expect you to know everything on day one. We are looking for strong fundamentals and a fearless attitude toward solving hard problems.
Must-Haves:
Strong CS Fundamentals: A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or Math
Coding Competency: You are comfortable writing logic in at least one modern language (we use TypeScript and React, but we value the ability to learn over specific syntax).
Curiosity & Drive: You are a "tinkerer." You have side projects, GitHub contributions, or internships where you have built and shipped product.
First-Principles Thinking: You can look at a confusing problem, break it down into small logical pieces, and solve it.
Preferred
Experience with TypeScript, Node.js, or React.
Experience working with Databases, Data Engineering / Machine Learning / AI.
Understanding of basic cloud concepts (AWS, Docker, or CI/CD pipelines).
Personal Attributes
You want high impact: You aren't looking for a corporate cog-in-the-wheel role. You want to see your work in action, improving our processes and driving efficiency.
You are pragmatic: You care more about the solution working in the real world than theoretical perfection.
You are adaptable: We are a Startup. Priorities change, and you’ll wear many hats. You view this as an exciting challenge, not a frustration.
What We Offer
Accelerated Learning: You will learn more here in 1 year than in 5 years at a big tech firm. You will touch every part of the stack.
Mentorship: 1:1 mentorship to guide you through the world of Software Engineering + Startups
Real-World Impact: Your code will power physical machines, not just manipulate pixels.
Ownership: Equity in the business - so you will share in the success you build
The Factory Environment: You won't be stuck in a generic office. You’ll be where the action is.
If you’re an engineer who wants to build real-world software with real-world consequences, let’s talk.
