Position: Junior Platform Engineer
Line Manager/Reports to: Platform & Infrastructure Manager
Education Level: Graduate or relevant work experience
Location: +/- 2 hours UK
Your mission
As Junior Platform Engineer you will be supporting the team in building and maintaining our build and deploy platform. You will learn DevOps philosophy and CI/CD practices, contribute to continuous improvement in velocity and quality, help establish AI usage controls, and grow your skills with guidance from senior engineers.
Your responsibilities in this role will include:
- Assisting with the creation and maintenance of our build and deploy platform.
- Support product streams and development teams to overcome blockers and ensure smooth delivery
- Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement
- Being hands-on with our pipelines, products, and processes
- Assisting with sysadmin and tech support duties as required, and participating in knowledge-sharing sessions with the team
- Using AI tools and assistants to accelerate day-to-day platform engineering tasks
- Helping build and maintain controls, guardrails, and governance processes for AI usage across the organisation
Required skills:
- 0–2 years of professional experience or relevant internship/placement experience in a DevOps or platform engineering role.
- An awareness of DevOps philosophies and practices, with a willingness to deepen your knowledge
- Basic familiarity with scripting (e.g. PowerShell, Bash, or similar).
- Some exposure to version control (e.g. Git) and an eagerness to learn the broader DevOps toolchain (CI/CD platforms, configuration management, monitoring tools).
- A high degree of personal honesty and integrity
- A team player who communicates well and is open to feedback
- A curious learner who enjoys picking up new technologies and frameworks
- Good spoken and written English
Additional skills you may have:
- Any exposure to cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure)
- Knowledge of any of the following JavaScript/TypeScript, .NET, Python,
- Any exposure to tools such as TeamCity, Octopus Deploy, Docker, Datadog
- Experience in the financial sector
- Exposure to AI/ML platforms, prompt engineering, or building integrations with LLM APIs
