In this role, you will sit at the centre of global payroll delivery, working closely with HR, finance, tax teams, local teams, and external payroll service providers to ensure payroll is processed accurately and on time. You’ll be responsible for maintaining payroll data integrity, navigating jurisdiction-specific requirements, and managing complex international payroll scenarios.

This role is important because it helps ensure employees are paid correctly, payroll processes remain compliant across jurisdictions, and the business can operate with confidence as payroll requirements evolve globally. You’ll also help improve efficiency through audits, system enhancements, and strong operational leadership.

What you'll be doing

  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, including salary calculations, deductions, and statutory contributions.
  • Review payroll cycles across jurisdictions to maintain consistency, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Coordinate year-end payroll activities, including tax reporting, annual statements, and compliance filings.
  • Stay current on global payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements for each jurisdiction.
  • Review and validate payroll inputs, including employee data, timesheets, benefits, and deductions.
  • Maintain payroll data integrity and employee records in line with data protection regulations.
  • Conduct periodic payroll audits to identify discrepancies and resolve payroll-related issues.
  • Collaborate with local teams, HR teams, finance, and tax stakeholders to support seamless payroll delivery.
  • Manage relationships with external payroll service providers across different regions.
  • Provide guidance to internal teams on payroll processes, reporting, and compliance requirements.
  • Support effective communication between internal stakeholders and external partners on payroll matters.
  • Handle complex payroll scenarios, including international assignments, expatriate payroll, and cross-border payments.
  • Implement payroll system enhancements, upgrades, and integrations to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Analyze payroll calculations and reconciliations to solve complex issues across jurisdictions.
  • Apply industry best practices and emerging trends in global payroll management to strengthen operations.

About You

  • Proven experience as an International Payroll Manager or in a similar role managing payroll across multiple countries and regions
  • In-depth knowledge of global payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements across jurisdictions
  • Strong understanding of statutory deductions, tax rates, social security requirements, and benefits regulations in different countries
  • Experience working with international payroll service providers and managing external vendor relationships
  • Proficiency with payroll software or systems used for end-to-end payroll processing
  • Advanced skills in MS Office, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in processing complex payroll scenarios across jurisdictions
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for complex payroll calculations and reconciliations
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to manage multiple payrolls and deadlines
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Understanding of data protection regulations and confidentiality requirements when handling employee information
  • Adaptability and a continuous learning mindset to keep pace with changing payroll requirements and global best practices
  • Certification such as the CIPP Diploma in Payroll Management or a related qualification is advantageous
