About the Role

We are hiring a VP of Storage to define and lead Nscale’s storage strategy across our AI cloud platform.

This executive role sits at the intersection of platform engineering, infrastructure, and storage architecture and is responsible for building Nscale’s storage capability as a first-class offering. You will own the technical direction for our storage portfolio, spanning high-performance file and object storage, distributed storage systems, and emerging approaches that help keep GPU infrastructure fully utilized for AI workloads.

You will lead the development of a scalable storage organization, shape our long-term roadmap, and drive technical decisions across architecture, productization, and partner strategy. Working closely with internal engineering leaders and external technology partners, you will help Nscale evolve beyond point solutions into a differentiated storage platform built for AI, HPC, and performance-sensitive cloud environments.

What you'll be doing

Storage Strategy and Ownership

• Own the company-wide technical strategy for storage as part of Nscale’s broader AI infrastructure platform.
• Define the roadmap for high-performance storage capabilities across object storage, fast file systems, and distributed storage architectures.
• Evaluate emerging storage technologies and determine how they can strengthen Nscale’s platform and customer offering.
• Translate customer and platform requirements into a clear, scalable storage vision.

Architecture and Platform Design

• Lead architectural decisions for storage systems built for AI, HPC, and data-intensive workloads.
• Design storage approaches that optimize performance, resilience, security, and geographic distribution.
• Guide the productization of storage services so they can be deployed, operated, and scaled effectively in cloud-like environments.
• Ensure storage platforms are built to support demanding workload patterns and sustained GPU utilization.

Technology Partnerships and Ecosystem Leadership

• Own senior technical relationships with strategic storage and infrastructure partners.
• Shape how Nscale works with vendors and ecosystem technologies to deliver differentiated storage services.
• Assess where to adopt, integrate, or extend partner technologies in support of Nscale’s roadmap.
• Represent storage as a strategic discipline internally and externally.

Team Building and Technical Leadership

• Build and lead a high-caliber storage organization, including principal engineers and specialist storage engineers.
• Mentor technical leaders who will drive implementation across core storage services and new capabilities.
• Balance hands-on technical depth with executive leadership in a fast-scaling environment.
• Help establish a team structure and operating model that can support a globally distributed organization over time.

KPIs

• Adoption and maturity of Nscale’s storage strategy
• Performance and resilience of storage architectures supporting AI workloads
• Readiness of new storage capabilities for deployment and productization
• Effectiveness of technical partner strategy across the storage ecosystem

About You

• 12+ years of progressive experience in storage, infrastructure, or platform engineering, including leadership responsibility.
• Proven experience owning storage strategy or engineering for cloud, AI, HPC, or other performance-sensitive environments.
• Strong technical background in high-performance storage, including object storage, distributed file systems, or parallel file systems.
• Demonstrated ability to architect large-scale systems for performance, resilience, security, and geographic distribution.
• Experience evaluating and integrating modern storage technologies in production environments.
• Ability to operate at both strategic and hands-on levels, especially in earlier-stage or scaling organizations.
• Track record of building technical teams and helping organizations mature their storage capabilities.
• Strong judgment in working with technology partners and shaping infrastructure direction through external ecosystems.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage deeply with engineers while influencing executive stakeholders.
• Practical, grounded leadership style with a strong bias toward building, solving, and scaling.
