About the Role

We’re hiring a General Ledger Accountant to own the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of Nscale’s financial records.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role sits at the center of the Finance function and works closely with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and Finance leadership. You’ll maintain the general ledger, manage key elements of the month-end close, and ensure transactional data is accurately recorded, reconciled, and reported in line with accounting standards and internal controls.

What you'll be doing

General Ledger Management

  • Process journal entries across the general ledger with precision and timeliness.
  • Maintain the chart of accounts and ensure correct coding and classification of transactions.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts to supporting documentation, subsidiary ledgers, and external statements.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies, posting errors, and reconciliation variances promptly.

Month-End & Period Close

  • Execute month-end close procedures, including accruals, adjusting entries, and account reconciliations.
  • Prepare and review trial balances to ensure accounts are balanced and properly supported.
  • Support the preparation of monthly financial statements and management reporting packages.
  • Maintain close checklists and documentation for audit and compliance purposes.

Controls, Compliance & Data Integrity

  • Implement and maintain internal controls over financial reporting and transaction processing.
  • Conduct regular transaction audits to ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
  • Flag unusual or suspicious transactions for investigation and escalation.
  • Support improvements to GL processes to increase accuracy and efficiency.

Reconciliations & Financial Analysis

  • Perform detailed reconciliations across bank, credit card, intercompany, and accrued expense accounts.
  • Investigate aged or outstanding reconciling items and drive timely resolution.
  • Prepare variance analyses and explain significant movements in the general ledger.
  • Support ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting requests from Finance leadership.

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Maintain proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems to ensure accurate data entry and reporting.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve operational efficiency.
  • Document GL procedures and maintain process runbooks for continuity and knowledge sharing.
  • Support system upgrades, migrations, and implementations as needed.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll teams to ensure seamless transaction flow.
  • Support external auditors during audit fieldwork and provide requested documentation.
  • Respond to internal stakeholder inquiries related to GL balances and transaction details.
  • Assist with budget preparation, forecasting, and variance reporting.

About You

  • 3–5+ years of experience in general ledger accounting, financial accounting, or a similar role.
  • Strong proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, QuickBooks, or similar.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and broader accounting standards.
  • Advanced capability in Microsoft Excel for reporting, analysis, and data reconciliation.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in high-volume environments.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
  • Proven ability to investigate discrepancies and resolve issues with a problem-solving mindset.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain financial data to non-accounting stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with evolving processes and systems.
  • Collaborative, proactive, and self-motivated, with a commitment to continuous improvement.

The range below reflects the base salary for the position. Actual compensation may vary based on job-related factors such as skill set, experience, education, and location.
