Who are we?

Founded in 2014, Oxa is a global leader in autonomous vehicle (AV) technology, dedicated to accelerating Industrial Mobile Autonomy (IMA).

We develop advanced physical AI and robotics technology, anchored around our configurable and explainable self-driving software, Oxa Driver; development toolchain, Oxa Foundry; and fleet management software, Oxa Hub. We utilise hardware blueprints known as Reference Autonomy Designs (RADs) to enable the integration of sensors, compute and drive-by-wire systems into existing vehicles produced by OEMs.

Our solutions automate repetitive industrial driving tasks, such as the towing and carrying of goods in locations like ports, airports and manufacturing facilities, or asset and perimeter monitoring in environments such as solar farms or industrial plants. We’re helping global businesses to address critical challenges like labour shortages and rising operational costs - driving efficiency, productivity, and safety.

Based in Oxford, and with offices in Canada, our engineering team is drawn from the world’s top physical AI specialists and led by originators of the field.

Your Role:

This role requires a Senior Electrical Engineer with experience in the automotive industry to lead a technical team, manage project schedules, and hands-on design complex wiring harnesses and sensor looms from concept to production. You will also support the troubleshooting of Power, Network and CAN bus network difficulties on vehicles currently in operation.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership & Harness Design

  • Design complex wiring harnesses and high-density sensor looms.
  • Select connectors, wire types, shielding, and backshells for harsh environments.
  • CAN Diagnostic experience.
  • Proven track record of designing for manufacturability (DFM).
  • Develop electrical schematics, 3D harness routing, and manufacturing drawings.
  • Define circuit protection, grounding strategies, and power distribution limits.
  • Integrate analog and digital sensors into robust vehicle or system looms.

Planning & Project Management

  • Plan and align electrical schedules with broader mechanical and software timelines.
  • Track project risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
  • Manage budget estimates for materials, tooling, and external prototyping.
  • Coordinate with supply chain partners to source specialized components.

Line Management & Team Development

  • Lead a team of electrical engineers and harness technicians.
  • Conduct regular 1-on-1 meetings, performance reviews, and career coaching.
  • Mentor junior staff on harness design best practices and standards.
  • Allocate tasks effectively across the team to meet deadlines.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance, and continuous-learning culture.

What You Will Need to Succeed:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field.
  • Experience: Minimum 6-8 years in electrical hardware design.
  • Leadership: Proven line management or supervisory experience.
  • Planning: Demonstrated success managing project timelines and budgets.
  • Specialism: Extensive portfolio of wiring harness and sensor loom designs.
  • CAD Tools: Proficient in Zuken E3, Altium, HarnWare, or AutoCAD Electrical.
  • 3D Routing: Experience with CATIA V5/V6, SolidWorks, or Creo Schematic.
  • CAN Knowledge: Ability to interpret and troubleshoot CAN network issues to ensure effective resolution.
  • Standards: Deep knowledge of IPC-WHMA-620, MIL-STD, or automotive standards.
  • Testing: Skilled with multimeters, oscilloscopes, and harness test benches.

Extra Kudos If You Have:

  • PCB design in 2- 4 layers stacks, Manufacturing harnesses, and Soldering surface mount PCBs

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary, benchmarked against the market and reviewed annually
  • Company share programme
  • Hybrid and/or flexible remote working arrangements
  • Core benefits of market leading private healthcare, life assurance, critical illness cover, income protection, alongside a company paid health cash plan (including gym discounts)
  • A salary exchange pension plan
  • 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays
  • A pet-friendly office environment
  • Safe assigned spaces for team members with individual and diverse needs
